The team

16 young journalists, half of them from Germany and half from six Arab countries. They travelled throughout the whole of Morocco in two internationally mixed teams. They met people who are connected to the topic of “water” in a special way. They experienced some bizarre things during their research.
Siri Warrlich & Mirna Gharbi

It is almost a miracle that Mirna and Siri emerged from their research unscathed. While filming on the golf course near Marrakesh, they had no time to be on the lookout for flying golf balls.

Roland Bednarz & Sara Hteit

Roland and Sara drove for hours until they reached the Coast of Agadir for a report about a new seawater desalination plant. They found ... nothing. But oh yes: the heroine´s bodyguard - a donkey!

Chaimae Boulifa & Pia Dangelmayer

Pia und Chaimae sPia and Chaimae travelled to a small village in Morocco´s highest mountain range for their research. Since they had only packed for spring temperatures, they had to borrow warm coats from their hosts. But they warmed up in no time after enjoying good food and hospitality.ind für ihre Recherche in ein kleines Dorf in Marokkos höchstem Gebirge gereist. Weil sie nur für Frühlingstemperaturen gepackt hatten, mussten sie sich warme Mäntel von ihren Gastgeberinnen leihen. Das gute Essen und die Gastfreundschaft haben sie dann aber schnell aufgewärmt.

Elia Ghorbiah & Martha Dudzinski

Martha and Elia had actually just wanted an excuse to go to the hammam. Instead, they hung around in boiler rooms where wood, olive stones and even animal body parts were burnt. Afterwards they wanted to scrub themselves cleaner than ever before.

Fadwa Benyahia & Magdalena Tröndle

Given that Fadwa and Magdalena were unable to find a taxi driver who was prepared to take them to Sidi Taibi on their first day of shooting, they decided to use the local public transport: Thirty minutes on a jam packed horse cart over an unpaved rough track. A fellow traveller congratulated them on their first “Moroccan massage”.

Katharina Fiedler & Mohammed Assaf

You have never experienced Medina in Fez unless you got lost there at least once, say the locals. Katharina and Mohammed lost their way on the last evening – in the dark and in pouring down rain – and it took them an hour to find their way out again.

Mahmoud Reda & Christina Schmitt

Christina and Mahmoud travelled to the South of Morocco, where they saw the most beautiful desert sunset. They would have preferred to stay there.

Elisa Miebach & Fatma Zahra Abderrahim

Elisa and Zarah laughed a lot together and cried and (almost) never had the same opinion: This did not make any decision easy.

Adnane Bennis & Jochen Markett

As trainers, Adnane and Jochen worked great as a team and mastered all challenges. The only problem they were unable to solve: The hotel corridor was far too low for Jochen´s height.

Daniela Diegelmann & Franziska Fabritius

Daniela and Franziska really enjoyed supporting the teams with their research from Rabat, and are happy that all teams returned safe and sound with many great stories to tell from their film shoots across the country.

Hicham Rachidi & Ali Azzaka

On the final evening of the seminar, Hicham and Ali wanted to take a group photo of everyone at the ancient Roman monuments in Volubilis. But it was already dark – and at that very moment the battery of the flash ran out. However, with a stroke of luck they still had the light from the video camera: They managed it. That is the advantage of team work.

Andreas Sommer & Uwe H. Martin

Andreas and Uwe had imagined Morocco to be somewhat different. Only on the last afternoon did they see the sun for the first time again: A circumstance that was not only due to the weather in Rabat, but distinctly reflects the fate of enslaved code magicians and film trainers.
